Break Down (Split) Reels
These heavy duty reels are used to pull scrap conductor for bundling with banding straps. Banding straps placed around the conductor bundle
through deep channels after the reel is removed from the pulling machine.
Four large spinner nuts are loosened by striking with a hammer or using a wrench so that the flange on small end of tapered core can be removed. A sling is place around the other flange and reel is tipped to dump bundle
It is
not necessary
to remove the spindle bar to dump cable from this reel design.
These reels are designed to be used with center spindle drive or rim drive equipment.
Features:
Reel design allows lifting with standard slings eliminating need for spreader bars or other special lifting apparatus.
Main body of reel remains with drive spindle unlike reels that split in middle for faster break down and reassembly.
Deep channels allow easy insertion of banding under conductor after it is pulled onto the reel.
Easy access to large spinner nuts on out side of reel eliminates need for special wrenches or other tools.
High strength flanges enable reels to be used for rope, steel cable, static wire and conductor take up.
High capacity polymer bearings can be quickly sized to fit shafts from 2 1/2" to 4" diameter when used with rim drive machines.
